I have been actively using the beauty section of Dcard for several years. Whenever someone asks, “Are there any affordable Dermatology clinics near Myeongdong Station in South Korea?”, the responses are usually scattered and inconclusive—some say that medical beauty treatments in South Korea are extremely expensive, while others simply suggest “going to a Chinese-speaking clinic” without providing any further details. This semester, I was doing an exchange program in Seoul and my accommodation was just a five-minute walk from Myeongdong Station. I visited around seven or eight Dermatology clinics in total and finally identified five that are truly suitable for students on a budget but who still want to avoid making mistakes.

This article doesn’t involve any sponsored content; it’s purely based on my own real experiences, paid for out of my own pocket. I’ll discuss everything openly: the prices, transportation, language barriers, and the overall value for money.

danya cover

Why choose the area near the Myeongdong station? The transportation is incredibly convenient.

If, like me, this is your first time in Seoul and you don’t want to travel too far, exit Exit 6 at Myeongdong Station, and you’ll find numerous Dermatology clinics and cosmetic surgery centers on both sides of Myeongdong Street. The subway Line 4 provides direct access, so you don’t need to transfer from stations such as Hongdae, Dongdaemun, or Seoul Station. The key point is that competition in this area is fierce; many clinics offer lower prices than those in Gangnam District to attract foreign customers, and they also provide necessary Chinese-language services.

Previously, I wrote a comprehensive guide to medical beauty treatments in Myeongdong, summarizing information about 13 clinics. At that time, my research was still at the stage of “thoroughly scanning all available options.” For this article, I have selected only five clinics that I believe offer the best value for money. Treatments within a budget of ₩50,000 to ₩150,000 (approximately $1,150 to $3,450) are definitely possible at these clinics.

My definition of “affordable”

It’s not always the case that the cheaper something is, the better it is. In South Korea, medically enhanced treatments that are excessively cheap often involve certain pitfalls – either diluted injections or procedures performed by consultants rather than doctors. I have set three criteria to consider:

  • A single treatment costs less than ₩150,000 (about NT$3,450), so students can definitely afford it if they save a little money.
  • It’s important to have Chinese-language services available, or at least ensure that communication can be conducted in English, so as to avoid being overcharged due to language barriers.
  • It must have received a rating of 4.0 or above on Google Maps/Naver, and the negative reviews should not contain complaints about poor performance.

After the screening process, only five companies remained. Now, I will list them in my personal order of preference.

First place: TOXNFILL Myeongdong Store (Tony’s Fill Myeongdong Branch)

TOXNFILL Dermatology, Myeongdong

📍 Address 7, 5F, Myeongdong 8-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul (3 minutes walk from Exit 6 of Myeongdong Station)
⏰ Open for business Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM / Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM / Closed on Sundays
💬 Language In Chinese, English, and Korean, our front desk is staffed by employees of Chinese nationality.
⭐ Reviews Google: 4.5 / Naver: 4.7

TOXNFILL is the place I have visited the most in Myeongdong, because their prices are truly very affordable for students. I once wrote a detailed breakdown of the prices at TOXNFILL’s Myeongdong store; after getting Botox treatment there, I even memorized the entire price list.

Basic treatment options such as Aqua Peel and LED light therapy start from 300,000 to 500,000 won; laser treatments range from 80,000 to 120,000 won, while botulinum toxin injections cost 50,000 to 80,000 won per treatment area. Overall, the prices in Myeongdong are considered relatively low, but the quality of equipment and services does not suffer due to the lower costs. This clinic is part of a chain with over a dozen branches in Seoul, ensuring consistent standards in service quality.

Recommended treatment plans for students:

  • Aqua Peel + LED Relaxation Package: ¥39,000 (approximately NT$900) → Basic cleansing treatment that truly makes your skin look brighter after use.
  • Botulinum toxin (for the Masseter muscle): ¥555,000 (approximately NT$1,260) → The most popular entry-level treatment among students

Second place: PPEUM Myeongdong Store (Ssem Myeongdong Branch)

PPEUM Dermatology, Myeongdong

📍 Address 20, Myeongdong 8-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, 4th Floor (next to Myeongdong Main Street)
⏰ Open for business Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM / Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
💬 Language In Chinese, it can be translated with the help of a translation machine; in English, it’s simply “OKAY”.
⭐ Reviews Google 4.3 / Naver 4.5

The strength of PPEUM lies in its “high cost-performance ratio”. Its pricing strategy focuses on selling large quantities at small profits, especially for laser treatments and fillers, where the prices are often 20-30% lower than those of its competitors. I previously wrote a comprehensive comparison between LIJIN and PPEUM; I have visited both companies, and each has its own strengths.

The Chinese-language services provided by PPEUM are not as comprehensive as those of TOXNFILL (it does not have permanent Chinese-speaking staff on site), but it is still possible to communicate with the staff at the counter in basic English, and using a translation app can help overcome any communication barriers. Every time I visit, I use both Papago and English interchangeably for communication.

Recommended treatment plans:

  • Laser freckle removal (IPL): ₩80,000 (approximately NT$1,840) → At least half cheaper than in Taiwan.
  • Filler injection (1 centum core): ₩150,000 (approximately NT$3,450) → A very competitive price

Third place: DAN-A Dermatology Myeongdong Branch

DAN-A Dermatology Myeongdong Branch

📍 Address 3F, 36 Myeongdong 2-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
⏰ Open for business Monday to Friday: 10:00-18:30 / Saturday: 10:00-14:00
💬 Language It can be translated as “Chinese Director” in Chinese, and the same in Japanese.
⭐ Reviews Google: 4.6 / Naver: 4.8

DAN-A is positioned slightly higher than the first two companies, and its prices are also slightly more expensive. However, its Chinese-language services are the best among the five companies – it has Taiwanese consultants on-site, ensuring that the entire process, from consultation to post-operative care, is conducted in Chinese with no barriers. I have previously undergone beauty treatments at DAN-A, including Ulthera and Rejuran procedures, and I must say that Vice President Pei Zaihe’s skills are truly outstanding.

If you have a slightly larger budget or plan to undergo more advanced treatments such as Rejuran, Mesolift, or Juvederm, DAN-A is the top choice. However, for basic skincare treatments alone, its price is 30-50% higher than that of TOXNFILL.

Suitable for:

  • Rejuran Healer: Starting from ₩120,000 – The hydrating effects are truly remarkable.
  • Laser Toning: ¥990,000 — Slightly more expensive than PPEUM, but the equipment is more modern.

Fourth place: Kleam Myeongdong Store (클레암 명동점)

Kleam Dermatology, Myeongdong

📍 Address 2F, 12 Myeongdong 4-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
⏰ Open for business Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM / Saturday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
💬 Language Mainly in English, with some brief Chinese phrases if necessary.
⭐ Reviews Google 4.2 / Naver 4.4

Kleam is the least well-known among these five clinics, specializing in laser treatments and skin rejuvenation procedures. If your skin issues include acne, acne scars, or enlarged Pores, Kleam offers more noticeable results than the other clinics. I mentioned it in my previous review of Dermatology clinics in Myeongdong; although its reputation isn’t as strong as that of TOXNFILL and DAN-A, its effectiveness in treating acne has been proven.

The downside is that my Chinese skills are limited, so my English proficiency must be sufficient; otherwise, the consultation process might become quite challenging.

Recommended treatment plan:

  • Fraxel Laser Treatment: ¥1,000,000 (approximately NT$2,300) → The Savior for Scars
  • AHA Exfoliation Treatment: ¥500,000 (approximately NT$1,150) – This is an entry-level option. Your skin will exfoliate after the treatment, but it’s definitely worth it.

Fifth place: Karen Dermatology

Kaelin Dermatology Myeongdong Branch

📍 Address 2F, 15 Myeongdong 10-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
⏰ Open for business Monday to Friday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM / Saturday: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
💬 Language The English term “OK” needs to be translated by a machine when used in Chinese context.
⭐ Reviews Google 4.1 / Naver 4.3

Kaelin didn’t rank at the bottom because of its poor quality, but rather because it was quite selective in choosing its patients. It positions itself as a “community-based Dermatology clinic frequented by local residents of South Korea.” Its interior design is plain, without any fancy reception areas, but the doctors there are very down-to-earth—they don’t promote unnecessary treatments or recommend excessive procedures.

If you have no knowledge of Korean at all, Karen’s clinic may be a bit too challenging for you. However, if you are already familiar with the reservation process at Dermatology clinics in Myeongdong, or if you bring a friend who knows Korean, this experience will be the closest thing to how South Koreans maintain their skin on a daily basis.

Recommended treatment plan:

  • Basic moisturization care: ¥330,000 (approximately NT$690) – Such a price is practically unheard of in Myeongdong.
  • Laser hair removal (for the legs): ¥950,000 – Highly cost-effective if done regularly.

Frequently Asked Questions for Dcard Users

Q: Are Dermatology clinics in Myeongdong really cheaper than those in Gangnam?

Based on my actual experience in comparing prices, the same treatment is generally 10-30% cheaper in Myeongdong. Gangnam targets a higher-end customer base, and its facilities and services are indeed more sophisticated, but the effectiveness of basic treatments is not significantly different. If your budget is limited, there are several areas in Myeongdong where medical beauty clinics are concentrated, making it convenient to compare prices before making a choice.

Q: What if I don’t know Korean?

Among these five clinics, except for Kailin, all offer basic services in both Chinese and English. TOXNFILL and DAN-A are the most flexible options in terms of language support. I have previously written about solutions to the problem of language barriers at Dermatology clinics in Myeongdong, and that article contains more practical tips.

Q: Is it necessary to make an appointment? Can I just show up without an appointment?

It is highly recommended to make all appointments in advance! Especially on weekends, the crowds at Dermatology clinics in Myeongdong are absolutely overwhelming. I have written an article detailing the various ways to schedule appointments at these clinics, covering options from phone calls and KakaoTalk to filling out forms on their official websites. If you don’t want to waste a trip, be sure to read it.

Q: If a student has a limited budget, which company would you recommend the most?

TOXNFILL represents the safest starting point: it offers easy-to-understand information in Chinese, transparent pricing, and a wide range of treatment options. The entry-level treatment package is available for just 40,000. If you happen to have acne problems, Kleam’s fruit acid skin treatment, which costs 50,000, is also worth trying. For those looking for something more advanced, DAN-A’s Onda microneedling treatment, priced at around 150,000 to 200,000, is an excellent option within a moderate budget range, with very noticeable results.

The final honest confession

It took me nearly two months to complete this article, from conducting research to finalizing the text. Of course, along the way, I encountered some unpleasant experiences (for example, after receiving an IPL treatment, my face turned red for three days). However, the five options listed above are those that I have carefully reviewed and believe can be safely recommended to Dcard users.

The advantage of South Korea’s medical beauty industry lies not in its seemingly miraculous techniques, but rather in its transparent pricing, standardized procedures, and the vast range of options available, which allow consumers to compare prices and services from multiple providers. Compared to Taiwan, where waiting lists often extend for several weeks, it is practically impossible to wait more than a day to get a consultation near the Myeongdong area – the efficiency is truly astonishing.

If you are also a student planning to explore Myeongdong, I hope this article can help you save both time and money by avoiding unnecessary trials and errors. Feel free to leave any questions in the comments section, and I will do my best to respond!
